Call me Ghaati

5:52 PM

I guess I'm one of the few who doesn't dream of someday settling a foreign country..earning big money, fame and success. I choose experiences, relationships and people over power, career and a dream job.

I prefer a simple chai over a starbucks coffee
I get excited over a 'jhola' than a prada bag
I like eating pani puri from the streets over a croissant or a bagel
I want to get my feet wet on the beaches of Goa than the beaches in Miami
And I'd any day prefer watching Ranbir Kapoor romancing Deepika Padukone over Fast and Furious 6.

Don't get me wrong..in no way am I stating that one is better than the other..but why is loving my country a pretext for mockery? Why is it not okay to know the words to 'Tum toh thehre pardesi' and not 'Hotel California'?
I actually do watch a lot of Hollywood and other foreign movies..I listen to all sorts of music and Grey's Anatomy is currently my favorite TV show. However, I am really not ashamed to say I equally (if not more) love watching Jhalak dikhla ja.. listening to A.R Rahman..and watching Aamir Khan.

Mock me all you want..but I love my country including our cutting chai, watered down milk, bollywood tamashas, people wanting to make frandships, gossiping relatives, and the street dogs that keep you up all night.

Peace out!
