United Premier League is a cricket tournament that happens in Dubai. Currently in its third season, the league has 10 participating teams. Each team is sponsored by a local company / business.
Coming to my part - this season I was called on board as the Designer. And part of my work called for designing team logos.
The only brief was that the sponsor company name/logo must be included in the logo design.
1Axcess Strikers:
They had strict guidelines about how the logo can be used and what colors are okay. So I stuck to the metallic colors and added a sporty font. I created the 'wickets' vector and placed it above the 2 lines. The lines symbolize 'speed' and wickets being 'struck' by the ball.
Power On Rangers:
The company logo has a nice neon green so I used that in the team logo. I created a 'shield' as the backdrop to signify 'Rangers' and placed the words jumping out of the shield to show energy.
Suncity Gladiators:
The main symbol of a Gladiator - the iconic helmet, was already taken by another team. So I really had to scratch my head to come up with another symbol. But I think this symbol fits perfectly because there is a tradition in cricket - where the winning team members pick up the stumps from the game and keep them as a memory. So the arrow in the hand symbolizes stumps and victory.
You Got Flipped Titans:
This is my team ! :) A Titan is someone who is god-like, or powerful and influential in a certain field. The word comes from Greek Mythology. So it made sense to have a crown. The position that the 'king' is in is also a batting position in cricket right before the batsman is about to strike.
What do you think of these super sporty logos? I had great fun designing them. The tournament begins on the 12th of August and I cannot wait to see how this season goes !
